Zeiss VisuMax & Mel 90, the most modern laser platform for refractive surgery

Zeiss VisuMax & Mel 90 laser platform, available in the Dr. Holhoș network, is a unique refractive suite, consisting of the Zeiss VisuMax device, the Zeiss Mel 90 Excimer laser and the Presbyond module, capable of providing all laser diopter reduction surgeries.

The new Zeiss VisuMax & Mel 90 platform can perform laser diopter reduction surgery in minutes. A premiere in Transylvania is the operația Presbyond laser surgery, the only laser surgery in the world completely dedicated to patients with presbyopia, over 40 years old. It is the fastest and most effective laser treatment for patients with this diagnosis. The Dr. Holhoș network is the only one in Transylvania and the second in the country to offer this surgery to patients. Presbyond is the most complex laser surgery in ophthalmology. Presbyopia occurs with ageing, usually after the age of 40 and is manifested by blurred vision, especially near vision, as the lens loses elasticity and accommodation power. Presbyond involves a minimally invasive treatment tailored to each eye individually, in which the refractive power of the cornea is modified, differentially in the two eyes. The surgery takes a few minutes and is performed on both eyes in the same session, with local anesthesia.

Another laser surgery that is highly requested by patients is the diopter reduction surgery with Zeiss’ RelEx SMILE technology. This, together with FemtoLASIK technology, is one of the newest types of laser refractive surgery. RelEx SMILE technology is a revolutionary technology with maximum patient comfort, no pain and immediate results. Disorders that will be solved with this new technology are myopia and astigmatism.

“The Zeiss VisuMax & Mel 90 platform is an ophthalmic performance marvel, made by German company Zeiss, world leaders in ophthalmic equipment. We have been working with Zeiss since the beginning, and we are implementing the latest technology in our clinics. With this platform we perform all types of laser surgeries for diopter reduction –  Excimer PRK, FemtoLASIK, RelEx SMILE and Presbyond lasers. The new technologies – Presbyond and RelEx SMILE – are state-of-the-art technologies, with which complex laser procedures can be performed with extraordinary results,” said Dr. Teodor Holhoș.

Dr. Holhoș clinics also offer minimally invasive surgical solutions to those suffering from cataract, retinal diseases, glaucoma and other eye disorders. All surgeries are performed by Dr. Holhoș, a surgeon with multi-disciplinary specialization in ophthalmology, covering the full range of disorders and procedures, from complex retinal surgeries, glaucoma surgeries to cataract surgeries and laser refractive surgeries.

Important note regarding patient consultations and surgery appointments

A patient who cancels a consultation or surgery appointment once, at least one day prior to the scheduled appointment, has the right to a second appointment under the same conditions.
If the patient cancels the second consultation and/or surgery appointment, a new appointment can be made only if the patient accepts to pay for both the consultation and the surgery in advance. This can be done either by payment order or in cash at the clinic reception.
A patient who does not show up for their consultation or surgery, who does not cancel the appointment in due time, or does not answer the clinic’s calls, may request a second appointment only if they pay for the consultation/surgery in advance.
Patients requesting an appointment for retinal surgeries or laser Prk/Femtolasik/Smile Pro must pay 30% of the cost of the surgery in advance. The appointment will be scheduled only after receiving the advance payment. If the patient is unable to attend the scheduled consultation or surgery, and cancels the intervention at least 48 hours beforehand, they will be refunded in full. If the patient does not show up and does not cancel or contact the clinic at least 48 hours in advance, the advance paid is considered to be lost as damages and will no longer be refunded.
