Unique in Romania: corneal investigations with MS-39

We are pleased to be the first clinic in Romania to offer investigations with the new MS-39 machine to patients. The MS-39 OCT CT scanner is unique in Romania, being able to perform complex and detailed investigations on the cornea, necessary in cases of laser refractive surgery and in accurate diagnosis for keratoconus.

MS-39 is more than an OCT

The MS-39 is a high-performance ophthalmic OCT and topographer that provides a superior level of corneal detail and analysis. HD images provide more detail, excellent resolution and reveal the structure of the cornea down to the last detail.

We can then take the best possible treatment decisions, and rule out certain diagnoses, with the help of this multidisciplinary device. It is mainly used in cases of refractive surgery, suspected keratoconus, glaucoma, lens implants and even dry eye syndrome.

Together with topography and Pentacam AXL Wave investigations, MS-39 investigations complete the cycle of pre-operative analysis and investigation in very delicate cases with “borderline” measurements, which until now were often risky for laser surgery and patients were advised to choose another surgical method.

We can today make a very delicate selection of these cases and avoid cases with potential corneal risks.

Benefits of the MS-39 device

  • Cross-sectional images with an extremely large diameter of up to 16 millimeters can be displayed for the entire anterior segment of the eye.
  • Highly detailed measurement of the corneal structure in all its layers
  • High-precision information about pachymetry and elevation, curvature and dioptric power, each in relation to the surface of the anterior and posterior cornea
  • Greater diagnostic certainty due to in-depth information about the epithelium
  • Highly accurate representation of the epithelial map, with a resolution of 3.6 micrometers thanks to spectral domain technology
  • Excellent image quality for the anterior segment of the eye up to 16 millimeters in diameter
  • The MS-39 allows a highly detailed overview of the cornea, including corneal aberrations.
  • Screening for keratoconus – provides important data on the cornea and can make a pre-operative contribution to avoiding possible complications associated with ectasia.
  • The calculation module for intraocular lenses, based on ray-tracing technology, is excellent for planning the treatment of treated or untreated eyes with refraction.
  • The placement of intrastromal rings can be precisely planned using pachymetry maps and a corneal elevation profile.
  • Glaucoma screening used in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma
  • The built-in function captures pupil diameter dynamically or statically, depending on the defined lighting conditions. Accurate pupil center and pupil diameter data are essential for planning and performing most refractive treatments.
  • Lens biometry – Lens thickness and lens position in the eye can be accurately determined to support IOL calculation refinement
  • “Dry eye” analysis – Placido technology allows analysis of the state of the tear film. This information provides support in diagnosing the symptoms of “dry eye”.

We constantly strive to offer patients the most modern surgical and diagnostic equipment and services, so that the decision and recommendation of a surgical solution comes after an extensive process of investigation, taking into account all possible risks, and the success of the intervention is almost totally guaranteed.

SEE PRACTICES AND CLINICS

Important note regarding patient consultations and surgery appointments

A patient who cancels a consultation or surgery appointment once, at least one day prior to the scheduled appointment, has the right to a second appointment under the same conditions.
If the patient cancels the second consultation and/or surgery appointment, a new appointment can be made only if the patient accepts to pay for both the consultation and the surgery in advance. This can be done either by payment order or in cash at the clinic reception.
A patient who does not show up for their consultation or surgery, who does not cancel the appointment in due time, or does not answer the clinic’s calls, may request a second appointment only if they pay for the consultation/surgery in advance.
Patients requesting an appointment for retinal surgeries or laser Prk/Femtolasik/Smile Pro must pay 30% of the cost of the surgery in advance. The appointment will be scheduled only after receiving the advance payment. If the patient is unable to attend the scheduled consultation or surgery, and cancels the intervention at least 48 hours beforehand, they will be refunded in full. If the patient does not show up and does not cancel or contact the clinic at least 48 hours in advance, the advance paid is considered to be lost as damages and will no longer be refunded.
